Quick Kicks: Gronk reportedly has surgery
Posted by escalavino on February 10, 2012 – 3:25 pmSeveral media reports this Friday say Rob Gronkowski has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his injured left ankle. The procedure reportedly happened this morning, just hours after Patriots All-Pro tight end was seen court-side at the Boston Celtics-L.A. Lakers game at the Garden last night.
Gronk, you’ll recall, sustained a high ankle sprain in the AFC Championship Game when Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard landed on his leg while bringing Gronkowski to the gound after a catch. The popular New England player became one of the most dominant players in the NFL in 2011, just his second season in the league.
Consequently, his status for Super Bowl XLVI was a topic of much debate and discussion. Although he wound up playing in the title game, he was clearly not at full strength, despite his declarations to the contrary immediately afterward. Gronkowski also rejected the notion that he would need to go under the knife, as had been speculated in the lead-up to the Super Bowl.
Now, it appears he has, and his recovery time is said to be in the neighborhood of 10 weeks, meaning he might be ready to take the field as early as late May, when the Patriots are in the midst of mini-camps and organized team activity (OTA) workouts.

Wow. I hope there are no long-lasting implications of him playing in the Super Bowl. If there was any possibility he needed surgery, they should have game-planned without him, but I guess the medical staff know what they’re doing. Troy Brown was saying he had a similar injury and every time the weather changes he gets a twinge in it to this day.

Must of been worse than first thought.
He has a stong will and should be fine.
To spin a negative into a positive this recovery time due to the unfortunate injury should keep him focused for next season.
Also don’t want to hear Spikes playing a pick up game of basketball this summer.
Does Vollmer’s foot require surgery at all due the length of his injury?

Get well and come back better than ever. The TD record is a mere 23. It’s yours if you want it. Oh yeah, ask Hernandez if he would mind looking the ball into his hands before he starts running in the future. He probably wouldn’t drop as many passes.

I agree with Harrison’s complaint regard Gronk’s shirtless afer Super Bowl nonsense. No reason he can’t contact Gronk now, and let him exactly how he feels about it, and how Grab should act as a Patriot player in the future.
