Paul’s Calls: Belichick tees off

Posted by pperillo on February 9, 2012 – 9:37 am

OK, so maybe that headline is a tad misleading. Bill Belichick will indeed be teeing off, but not on anyone. Instead the Patriots coach is part of Ricky Barnes‘ foursome at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am that began this morning. Belichick will join his buddy, Alabama coach Nick Saban, and PGA pro Bud Cauley.

There’s a good bet that Belichick and Saban will spend some time discussing many of Saban’s stellar defensive players who will be eligible in April’s draft. Those conversations may not be taking place this morning on the golf course, but they certainly will be over the next several weeks.

Tom Brady was scheduled to take part in the event but withdrew, according to the Boston Herald.

Look, I’m a diehard fan and am mourning to, but life goes on! The Pats got way farther than I thought they would this year. They are a young team with developing talent. Let’s give them a break. What good is it for them to dwell forever and sink into a deep depression. They need to move on and concentrate on the future. Let’s cut ‘em some slack!

Hey Guys, it was a great season. The Pats have nothing to be ashamed about. Someone had to loose, someone had to win. There are many teams out there that would have loved to end up where we ended up.

13-3 is nothing to be ashamed about!! These guys played there butts off! Sucks we came up short, again vs the hated giants…yes I hate them! Im a Boston fan all the way….born to hate New York in every way! When I saw that catch by Manningham I knew we were screwed! Its the 2012 version of David Tyree….we ran outta time…again! I own a sports bar in Florida, SportsRock in Largo, Fla, and I had 30+ Giants fans in my bar that I push Boston sports, logo’s of the Celtics, Bruins, Pats Sox everywhere! These people were visious, I was wearing a Mike Vrabel #50 jersey, lots of yelling and ended up with a brawl……LOL I couldnt take it!!! anyway, great season, cant wait for next!

Sure, I would agree the pats had a great year, maybe above expectations. I think Gronkowski should take solace in such a fact. But I think an athlete that is focused on winning a championship will not need to “unwind” as Andy Hart says. He may need to take a breather… but he won’t want to PARTY!! Even Larry Bird, after winning the ’84 NBA championship didn’t Unwind – the next day he was found working out, getting ready for the NEXT CHAMPIONSHIP!! Rodney Harrison is completely on target… a man with the heart of a champion.
